Theresa Reyes
Theresa “Terry” V. Reyes of ‘Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2011 at the age of 73. Born on Oct. 24, 1938, she retired as a civil service worker from Kaneohe Marine Corps Base and managed Kaua‘i Veterans Center from 1994 to 2008.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Reyes; sisters, Leonora Banasihan, Felipa Esteban and Maria Anahori; brothers, Maximo Villinda and Dominador Villanida and son in-law, Teddy Ellamar.
She is survived by her daughters, Brenda (Stuart) Braun of Wailua; Jeannette Ellamar of ‘Ele‘ele; Joann (Tim) Bragalone of ‘Ele‘ele; grandchildren, Aaron Braun of Wailua; Delcey (Ryan) Garma of Wailua; Joey (Pollen) Stevens of Honolulu; Loke (Darrin Martin) Ellamar of Kalaheo; Jansen (Christie) Reyes of ‘Ele‘ele; Charmaine Reyes of Kapa‘a and Charsen Reyes of Kalaheo; sisters, Philomena Peralta of Tacoma, Wash. and Erinia Figaroa of Lihu‘e; brother, Johnson (Sharon) Villanida of Kalaheo; 11great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, family and friends.
Services will be held at Sacred Hearts Catholic Church in ‘Ele‘ele on Saturday, Dec. 17, visitation will be held at 9 a.m. and Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery.

Terry Yagihara
Terry T. Yagihara of Kilauea died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at home at age 89. Born Sept. 23, 1922, in Hanalei, he served in the U.S. Army 987th Air Engineer Squadron as an interpreter during World War II. He retired from the County of Kaua‘i as a road district clerk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Saichi and Hagino Yagihara; wife, Audrey Yagihara; and sister, Doris Cabbab.
He is survived by his two sons, Terence Yagihara (Lianne Ching) of Hilo and Scott (SheriAnn) Yagihara of Kilauea; sister, Mabel Sunada, brother, Glenn (Violet) Yagihara; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel with visitation from 8:30 a.m. and services celebrated at 10 a.m.
Masayoshi
Yamakawa
Masayoshi “Bob” Yamakawa of Lawa‘i, Kaua‘i died peacefully at home on Dec. 3, 2011, at age 97. Born in Makaweli, Kaua‘i, on Aug. 8, 1914, the eldest of nine children, he enjoyed fishing and sports, particularly boxing, football and baseball, later coaching and officiating youth sports.
He also enjoyed reading, poetry and good company. He was a hard worker and good provider, having worked at Olokele Sugar, Kekaha Sugar, Kaua‘i Pineapple Company and the Pacific Missile Range Facility for a total of 51 years, before retiring in 1979.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Hatsue Ijima Yamakawa; sister, Mitsuyo Nomi; brothers, Sueyoshi Yamakawa and Matsumi Yamakawa.
He is survived by six children, Sydney (Ed) Damm of Elm Mott, Texas; Karen (Al) Mehrer of Novato, Calif.; Lee Yamakawa of Yakima, Wash.; Lance (Susan) Yamakawa of Goldsboro, N.C.; Jane (Al) Pang of Honolulu and Roy (Nancy Budd) Yamakawa of Kaua‘i; siblings, Patsy Takeno Watanabe, Florence Umeno Ikari, Shime Yamakawa, Hisashi Yamakawa and Carole Akiko Yukihiro; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and caregiver, Mary Williams.
The family extends its gratitude for the kind expressions of condolences, and respectfully requests no koden. Private services were held on Dec. 10.
Lillian Manago
Lillian H. Manago of Lawa‘i, Kaua‘i passed away peacefully at her residence in Lawa‘i on Dec. 7, 2011 at the age of 74. She was born in Koloa on Oct. 30, 1938; she was a housewife and caregiver.
She was preceded in death by parents, John and Helen Carvalho; husband, William Manago and brother, Gilbert Carvalho.
She is survived by sister, Rose Marie (Jose Jr.) Costales of Lawa‘i; hanai children, Jose (Michele) Costales III of Lawa‘i; Jonathan Costales of Lawa‘i; Elena Marie Costales of Lawa‘i; two hanai grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at Saint Raphael’s Catholic Church in Koloa, visitation is at 9 a.m. and mass is at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Saint Rafael’s Cemetery.

Regina Ventura
Regina O. Ventura of Kapa‘a died on Dec. 10, 2011 at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 89. She was born on July 22, 1922 in Kapahi. She worked for the Hawaiian Fruit Packers Cannery and after the cannery closed she became a cook for the B.V.M. sisters at St. Catherine’s Convent. She was a retired State of Hawai‘i employee at Samuel Mahelona Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mariana Ornellas; sister, Mabel (Clarence) Ebinger; brothers, Albert, Joaquin, John, Joseph and Patrick Ornellas; her beloved husband, Jules Ventura Jr. and her cherished sons, Wayne Maurice; Gregory Jules and Jules John Ventura.
She is survived by her daughters, Paulette Ann Vierra; Kitty Catherine (Vernon) Basuel and Regina Eva Ventura; grandchildren, Veronica Nagahisa; Lenette Vierra; Vernon Basuel II; Brookelynn Basuel; Antony (A.J.) Basuel; Kawika Ventura; Cameron Ventura; Clayton Ventura; Lisa Bowsman; Blaise Ventura; Teresa Surdi and 31 great grandchildren; daughter-in-laws, Irene (Wayne) Ventura and Linda (Gregory) Ventura; sisters, Mary Ornellas; Theresa (Jacob) Martins; Pauline (John) Fernandes; sister, Catherine Ornellas B.V.M.; Julia “Julie” (Stanley) Souza and Eva Ornellas.
Services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a. Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. with mass to follow at 11 a.m.
Nelson Gaspar
Nelson Edward Gaspar Jr. of Wailua Homesteads died at Straub Hospital on November 13, 2011 at the age of 67. Born in Honolulu, O‘ahu on May 16, 1944, he retired from City and County of Honolulu and was a minister with Jehovah’s Witness.
He is survived by his daughter, Moana (Kaipo) Kaleikini of Wailua Homesteads; four grandchildren, Rusty Akeo, Aharon Kaleikini, Cyerrah Kaleikini and Maycee Kaleikini; six brothers and one sister.
A celebration of life memorial services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Kapa‘a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s witness at 1 to 3:00 p.m.
Guillermo Millare
Guillermo B. Millare Sr. of Lihu‘e died on Dec. 11, 2011 at the age of 89. He was born on May 12, 1922 in Bangued, Abra Philippines. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ciriano Millare and mother, Maria Biares.
He is survived by his wife, Shealane B. Millare of Lihu‘e; four sons, Guillermo (Lisa) Millare of Hanapepe; Wayne (Doreen) Millare of Waimea; Nathan (Luz) Millare of Lihu‘e and Derek (Kaleko) Millare of Koloa; three daughters, Millimoana Stanley of Lihu‘e; Blanche Johnson of Honolulu and Ashlee Millare of Lihu‘e; 19 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, two brothers, four sisters and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Services will be held on Dec. 17, at the Lihu‘e Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Service to begin at 10 a.m. Burial Service will be on Dec. 19, at 10 a.m. at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens. The family suggests Aloha attire.

Editha A. Padamada of Waimea passed away on Dec. 2, 2011 at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 68. Born on May 28, 1943 in the Philippines; she was filed worker with the Corn Field.
She is survived by her husband, Alfredo Padamada; six sons, Fredy (Lot Lot) Padamada; John (Imelda) Padamada; James Padamada; Noel (Veronica) Padamada; Gerald Padamada and Alfredo (Mirasol) Padamada, Jr., six daughters, Marietta (Fernando) Mangabat; baby Editha (Eddie) Padamada Obien; Duquesa Padamada; Janice (Eric Bunao) Padamada; Suerie (Victor Constantino) Padamada and Rachelle Ann (Lauro) Ortiz; 15 grandchildren; two sisters, Teresita Lumabao and Norma Alegre and one brother, Godofreda Alegre, Jr.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Dec. 16, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Also on Saturday, Dec. 17, at St. Theresa’s Church in Kekaha from 8 a.m. and mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.

Jennifer Kahelani Kaohelaulii died on Dec. 9, 2011 at the age of 48.
Born on Feb. 17, 1963 in Puuwai, Ni‘ihau, she was a teacher with Department of Education.
She is survived by her father, Kaiini Niau; son, Daniel Nakai Pahulehua of Ni‘ihau and daughter, Andria Kaiiniakuuleialoha Niau of Ni‘ihau; hanai parents, Luana and Naumu Kaohelaulii, Dona and Kahikilani Kaohelaulii, Eli and Laurie Kaohelaulii, and Kunia Pahulehua and Mililani Kanahele; 3 brothers, Jay L.K. Niau Jr (Colleen Kahea) of Ni‘ihau, Jayna K. Niau (Racine) of Ni‘ihau, and Paul Naumu Jr.; sisters, Leiana P., Ala Kaohelaulii, Ohu Niau and Momi Shintani, all from Ni‘ihau, and Kahea Faria (Keoki) of Kanewai, O‘ahu; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial Services will be held on Dec. 14, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Service to begin at 1 p.m. Burial to follow at Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery. The family suggests casual attire.

Ronald Chen
Ronald James Chen of Kalaheo died on Dec. 10, 2011 at Garden Island Healthcare at the age of 70. Born on June 16, 1941 in Lowell, Mass., he was a retired Manager of communications for NASA.
He loved his family and took great joy in their dog Selah. He was an avid guitar player with the Kalaheo Ukulele Senior Ohana and also played violin with the KCC orchestra. His extra time was spent in service to his community coaching tennis at Waimea High School and driving for the American Cancer Society. He served his country in the Vietnam War. During his 40 year career with NASA, he worked in Koke‘e and at the Houston Space Center where he received one of the most prestigious awards given by NASA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Goon Chen and mother, Ruth (Chin) Chen.
He is survived by his wife, Annette “Dang” Chen; his daughter, Ronny (Benji) Klindt; son, Curtis (Kate) Chen; sister, Judy (Jimmy) Maryou; brother, Wayne (Randi) Chen; 4 grandchildren, Nainoa and Brandon Klindt; Kainoa and Mary Chen; many nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Jimmy and Johnny Pang and sister-in-law, Phillis (Eddie) Ching.
Services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 18, at Kaua‘i Christian Fellowship at 2731 Ala Kinoiki Rd., Koloa HI, 96756 (Koloa bypass road). Viewing time is from 1 to 2 p.m. with service to follow. Aloha attire is suggested. A private burial will be held.

Nelson Kulani Reinhardt of Kekaha, Kaua‘i passed away on Dec. 10, 2011 at the age of 60. He was a utility/maintenance worker for Lahaina Petroleum (Kaua‘i’s Chevron gas station). He was born in Honolulu, O‘ahu.
He is survived by wife, Georgine Reinhardt of Kekaha, Kaua‘i; daughters: Kahealani (Janaka) Reinhardt Dillon of Reno, Nevada; Maile (Jamie) Reinhardt Ornellas of Maui, Hawai‘i; Nanea Reinhardt of Reno, Nevada; 5 grandchildren, numerous aunties, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life will be held on Wednesday Dec. 21, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa. Visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m. service at 9 a.m. Service again in Honolulu at a later date, burial to follow.
