ANAHOLA — Kaua‘i Police Department was called to Anahola Beach Park Thursday afternoon for what was described as a brawl between two families gathered in separate enclaves for Thanksgiving Day activities.
The altercation, which began a little after 2 p.m., involved two juveniles, according to the county: a 17-year-old boy from Anahola and a 16-year-old boy from Lihu‘e. Both had minor injuries and both were arrested for third-degree assault.
The altercation had concluded by the time six police cars arrived shortly before 2:45 p.m. About four officers remained to interview victims and witnesses.
One police officer could be seen taking a photo of a young man’s face, paying special attention to his black eye. There were two large tents in the park with sizable groups, along with about six or more smaller tents in the camping area.
The beach lifeguard said that he called in the incident but was acting on a report and did not see anything.
A couple of park patrons said nothing happened really and that no one was hurt.
