LIHU‘E — Six teams are registered for the Hanakila Thanksgiving basketball Classic which will open Thursday and run through Saturday at the Bernice Hundley Gym on the grounds of the Kapa‘a High School campus.
The tournament will feature 6th through 8th graders playing in two pools, three teams to a pool.
Papalina will open the action Thursday against Team Central B starting at 10 a.m. followed by Hanakila taking on Hanakila Youn Guns at 11 a.m. The day ends with the Crusaders taking on Team Central B starting at noon.
The Crusaders open the Friday action against Westside starting at 4 p.m., the first of four games. At 5 p.m., Hanakila takes on Papalina followed by the Hanakila Girls taking on the Kaulupono Girls A at 6 p.m. The Hanakila YG tangles with the Westside in a 7 p.m. tipoff.
The final day of the tournament will see the Hanakila Girls open against Kaulupono Girls B starting at 4 p.m. The 5 p.m. contest pits the third place of Pool A against the third place of Pool B, the 6 p.m. game features the second place of Pool A against the second place of Pool B and the 7 p.m. finale will have the first place of Pool A going up against the first place of Pool B.
Games will be played in four six-minute quarters with the clock stopping during free throws. Stop time will be allowed in the final two minutes of the game if the teams are within 10 points of each other.
