LIHU‘E — Kody Gardner had three goals Sunday during the Kaua‘i Soccer Association championships at the North Vidinha fields.
Gardner netted one goal for the top-seeded Westside Falcons Boys Under 12 to help the blueshirts clinch a 4-0 win over the second-seeded GIFC Orange, BU12 for that division title.
Joining Gardner in the scoring, Chysen Lagunes, Kaylin Espada-Tasaka and Kyla Bandsma each netted goals for the Falcons BU12.
But Gardner was not done for the day, jumping aboard the Westside Falcons Boys Under 14 team where he led that team with two goals in its 3-2 win over the GIFC White BU14 for an upset win.
The Falcons BU14, seeded No. 2, got its extra margin on a goal by Isaiah Duldulao while Justin Franklin netted the two GIFC BU14 goals.
This was the only upset of the day.
Earlier in the day, the top-seeded Pohaku Girls Under 10 blanked Team Chikara 4-0 for its Under 10 Girls division title.
Benjamin Griep pocketed two goals to lead top-seeded Team Onipa‘a to a 4-2 win over the second-seeded Westside Falcons BU10 for that division title.
Joining Griep, Conor Hunt and Nicholas Semblante netted goals while Tori-Ann Ishikawa and Nainoa Ragragola scored goals for the Falcons BU10.
In a late game, Raven Ochoa scored the sole goal as the top-seeded Kaua‘i Extreme Strikers edged Team Chikara Red GU12, third seed in the division, for the division title.
Lyndsie Kashima finished with two goals to lead the Kaua‘i Sparks to its 2-0 showing over a tenacious FC Northshore GU14 team.
