Tori Tuttle, a graduate of Kapa‘a High School, was named to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association women’s volleyball all-American and all-academic selections for the 2011 season.
Tuttle, a sophomore at Southern Virginia University, headlined the six Knights who were named to the USCAA selections, states a SVU release.
The 6-1 middle blocker was selected to the USCAA all-American team following her leading the Knights with 82 blocks during the regular season. She finished third on Southern Virginia’s team in kills with 167 and kills per game at 2.14 in 26 matches this year.
Nicole Gwynn, junior from Hamilton, Mont., leads Southern Virginia in assists with 586 and assists per game at 7.521.
She joins Tuttle and SVU senior Brynn McGinn of Bedford, Ind., who leads the Knights in kills with 214 and kills per game at 2.46, in earning honorable mention all-American honors for their play this season.
McGinn was also named to the USCAA all-academic team along with junior middle blocker Bryndy Christensen of Idaho Falls, Idaho, sophomore libero Shyanne Ison of Mt. Pleasant, Utah, and senior defensive specialist Becca McConaha of Twin Falls.
