Applications for the 13th Lights on Rice parade scheduled for Dec. 2 are currently being accepted by visiting www.lightsonrice.com.
Participation in the parade is free.
The popular holiday parade is part of a triad of activities falling on Dec. 2, the first Friday in December. Starting off the day, the Kaua‘i Museum will host its annual Christmas Craft Fair with crafters, vendors, food and entertainment from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. in Lihu‘e.
As the afternoon wanes, the lighting of the historic County Building by the Festival of Lights Committee headed by Elizabeth Freeman sets the stage for the Lights on Rice parade.
The lighting ceremony starts at 6 p.m. and the parade starts at 6:30 p.m. from the intersection of Hardy and Rice streets, winding up behind the historic County Building.
This year, Eileen Winters, president of the Rotary Club of Kaua‘i, and that organization will be taking over the parade which ties the trio of events together in the heart of Lihu‘e.
Due to traffic concerns, the organizing committee is limiting the number of entries to around 50 units.
