Vickery Sr.
Edward “Eddie Boy” Delano Pamaiaulu Vickery Sr. of Lihu‘e and formerly of Kamuela, Big Island died at home on Oct. 19, 2011 at the age of 77. He was born in Honolulu on April 27, 1934 and served in the U.S. Marines. He retired as a welder with Chicago Bridge & Iron.
He is survived by his caregiver, Mabel Timmerman of Lihu‘e; children, Kathy Meredith of Oregon, Edward “Bubba” Vickery Jr. of Washington, Gretchen (John) Killeen of Washington; brother, William Vickery Sr. of Waimanalo; three grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery at 10:00 a.m.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

Emproso Sr.
Manuel “Manny” John Emproso Sr. of Kapa‘a died Oct. 24, 2011, peacefully at home at age 74. Born in Lihu‘e on May 26, 1937, he was a manager for the State of Hawai‘i at Samuel Mahelona Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emidio and Balasa Emproso; brother, William Emproso, and sisters, Navis Quiming, Paulina Suan and Dora Banquel.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Emproso, of Kapa‘a; daughters, Lisa Emproso of Kapa‘a; Jennifer (Leon Sr.) Penias of Kapa‘a; sons, Manuel “John” (Samentha Amor) Emproso Jr. of Kapa‘a and Jacob Emproso of Kapa‘a; adopted daughter, Mandy Emproso, of Kapa‘a; sister, Beatrice Ancheta of Kealia; brothers, Domingo (Lourdes) Alisna of Hanamaulu and Alejandro (Janis) Alesna of Moloa‘a; numerous nieces, nephews and 10 grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 10, at Saint Catherine’s Catholic Church, Kapa‘a. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Saint Catherine’s Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary, Koloa.
Francis Lopez
Francis A. Lopez Jr. of Niumalu died on Oct. 22, 2011, at Garden Isle Health Care at the age of 66. Born on July 12, 1945, in Lihu‘e, he was an equipment operator with Hawaii Dredging Company.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette S. Lopez; sons, Francis L. Lopez III of Wailua and Aaron Rivera of O‘ahu; daughters, Jarene Medeiros of Lihu‘e, Jocelyn Rivera of Kamuela, Big Island and Cassie Stewart of California; four brothers, Bobby Barfield of California, Harold Santiago of Hilo, Norman Santiago Sr., of Honolulu and Wallace Santiago of Ewa Beach O‘ahu; sisters, Caroline Nelson of Georgia, Kathleen Culberth of Georgia and Meryion Santiago of Honolulu.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Margaret Masuda
Margaret Tsurue Masuda of ‘Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i, died on Oct. 26, 2011, at home at the age of 82. Born on June 9, 1929, in Wahiawa, Kaua‘i, she was the owner of Kuni’s Service Station in Hanapepe.
She is survived by her son, Daryl K. Masuda of Hilo, Hawai‘i; daughter, Sharilyn C. Masuda (Layne Matsushita) of Hilo; two grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth K. Kunisaki of Honolulu, Stanley T. Kunisaki of Kalaheo and John T. Kunisaki of Honolulu.
Friends may visit with the family from 4 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Kaua‘i Soto Zenshuji Temple in Hanapepe. Service at 5 p.m. Family request no koden, casual attire and that flowers are omitted.

Rafael Maza
Rafael T. Maza was born in Cartagena, Colombia on March 7, 1925. He died on Oct. 20, 2011, at home on Kaua‘i at the age of 86.
He is survived by his wife, Alba; six children, Alba Maza of Redondo Beach, Calif., Mercedes Maza of Kaua‘i, Diana Maza of New York, N.Y., Ralph Maza of Costa Mesa, Calif., Walter Maza of Kaua‘i and Richard Maza of Kaua‘i; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Borthwick Mortuary in Koloa on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 1 p.m. with burial following at the Lawa‘i Cemetery.
