Disabled boat towed ashore

PO‘IPU — A 21-foot fishing boat was disabled a mile outside of Maha‘ulepu after running over a cargo net Sunday afternoon, a county news release states.

Randon 1 and three personnel from Rescue 3 launched from Nawiliwili Harbor and made contact with the disabled boat at approximately 1:20 p.m., the release states.

Rescue personnel entered the water and cut netting from the boat’s propeller but the boat still was unable to get underway, the release states.

Randon 1 proceeded to place the disabled boat under tow to Nawiliwili small boat harbor where it has been docked, the release states.

No one was injured in the incident.

Damage to the boat is undetermined at this time, the release states.
