The Kaua‘i High School girls finished fifth and the Kaua‘i boys finished eighth at the Billy Tees Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association bowling championships, Friday in Hilo.
Pearl City, led by Brianna Nakamura, rolled a 7,205 total pinfall to claim first place for the girls. Kaua‘i girls, in its fifth-place finish, rolled a 6,547 pinfall, led by Alisa Padasdao, finishing 36th in individualist, rolling a 1,401 pinfall.
Angelika Questin of Kapa‘a, the individualist from the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation, finished tied for 56th with a 1,309 pinfall, falling just a pin short of Arielle Ferreira of Waiakea who finished with a 1,310 pinfall.
Questin finished in a tie with Jana Okamura of Kapolei, the pair finishing just ahead of Kaua‘i’s Joren DeCosta-Caalim who ended in 58th place with a 1,300 pinfall.
Pearl City completed its sweep of the state bowling championshp when its boys team rolled an 8,818 pinfall to capture the top spot, Kevin Oshiro (1,890) and Sheldon Na‘auao (1,831) filling in the top two individualist spots as well.
Kaua‘i boys rolled a 6,596 for eighth place.
Jonathan Iloreta Jr., the KIF individualist from Kapa‘a High School, finished 17th in the individualists with a 1,632 pinfall, falling just a pin short of Austin Allen of Mililani who rolled a 1,633.
Joseph Nebre rolled a 1,535 pinfall to lead the Kaua‘i boys, finishing in 37th place for individualists, just a pin short of Jonathan Kutsunai of Kealakehe who rolled a 1,536.
