From citizens to subjects
In response to Ralph Tamm’s Oct. 27 letter “Democracy at work,” the U.S. is not and never was a democracy, indeed the founding fathers rejected democracy in favor of a constitutional republic.
The word democracy appears nowhere in the Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, or the U.S. Constitution.
Benjamin Franklin defined democracy as “two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.”
A republic is based on laws and a democracy is best defined as majority (mob rule). The misunderstanding of our form of government has allowed our republic to be co-opted into a fascist oligarchy.
The rule of law has disappeared and we are left with the rule of power. The origin of our problem lies in the loss of rule of law and a corrupt system where politicians are for sale.
When Julius Caesar led his army across the Rubicon river (origin of the term crossing the rubicon) and disbanded the senate declaring himself emperor Rome’s people went from citizens to subjects.
Somewhere around Sept. 11, 2001 America “crossed the Rubicon” and the speed with which we have become subjects rather than citizens is astonishing.
The Constitution and rule of law have helped America overcome its worst transgressions like slavery, and given time might even find justice for Hawaiians and native Americans.
The problem is, the disrespect for the constitution on the part of the political class, and the lazier of U.S. “citizens” makes future liberty unlikely.

An opportunity awaits
A welcome addition to The Garden Island newspaper is the Arius Hopman column series; “The Global Paradigm Shift.” This is an opportunity to view the present chaos and crises as the result of patriarchal control and ego identification.
It is especially strong as the powers-that-be recognize the awakening energy of the people who are wise to the abuse of power. These prevailing powers are struggling to maintain control.
The third-dimensional system of power, control and exploitation of Mother Earth has brought us to the brink of self-destruction.
Over-reaching power playing with nuclear energy from a place of greed and the power addiction of the ego is proving disasterous. Incoming light and energy is exposing lies and the intentions of those who were intrusted to represent the people.
The failure of the truth about 9/11 to be covered by the media is highly suspicious when it can be found on the Internet by courageous truth tellers.
The natural cancer cures that should be front page news are suppressed by the FDA and powerful pharmacuetical corporations.
How many know that the highest cause of death is the legal use of pharmacuetical drugs? The sick care system threatens anyone sharing foods and processes that heal.
When info is shared, disclaimers are always included for fear of being prosecuted, losing their job or much worse as many scientists have lost their jobs and reputations by those who profit from keeping us sick.
If it can’t be patented or make money, it is discredited by those in power.
The mind has been controlled by the false personality or the ego. The spiritual heart, through intuition is meant to be the master.
Then the mind becomes a very useful servant. We are spiritual beings currently inhabiting a body and we are each here for a purpose.
To allow self inquiry and exploration of your heart’s desire can lead to a powerful intention.
Allowing it to manifest and surrendering to the love essence we are beneath the false personality will help us recognize that same love essence in others.
Raising our vibrations from fear to love is essential for our survival.
We have many helpers in the nonphysical world eager to help us in this birthing process our earth is going through.
They may be friends or family members who have returned to the spirit world who are simply waiting to be called on.
Hold the vision of oneness, that can only be experienced through a connection from the heart.

What to do about
drifting debris
Most of us know about the unspeakable news of Japan’s tons of pending hell coming our way (“Japan tsunami debris floating toward Hawai‘i,” The Garden Island, Oct. 26).
We have about two years before it gets to our precious Kaua‘i.
Does any one think we can burn it before it gets here? Or route it to Big Island’s volcano and destroy it?
We just can’t ignore it.
