LIHU‘E — The Fun Factory re-opened the doors to its Kukui Grove Center location on Monday, following an absence of several years.
“We’re going to work hard to earn the trust and respect of the community,” Warren Asing, executive VP of Fun Factory, told his crew during its blessing. “We’re certainly happy to be back here.”
Trisha Bettencourt is the manager of the Kukui Grove Center outlet, which is the second Fun Factory on Kaua‘i, joining the Waipouli location.
“There are some differences,” Bettencourt said. “We’ve got some new games and there are different items at the redemption center.”
Bettencourt said the ongoing Honor Roll Program and party time promotions will also be available at the Kukui Grove location.
Under the Honor Roll Program, students bring in each quarter’s report card and with all As and Bs, or with all MEs or MPs, they receive free game tokens, an incentive for students to try and achieve good grades in school.
Party time celebrants enter the Fun Factory world for $15 per person with a minimum of 10 people, the admission entitling celebrants to 90 minutes of play, unlimited play on all video games, unlimited kiddie rides, 20 redemption/direct pay games, and two free game plays on future visits.
Open Sundays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until midnight, the opening of the Kukui Grove Center location brings its share of excitement to the Halloween potpourri of activities at the mall.
On Halloween, contestants in the Halloween costume contest can win $50 worth of game tokens simply by coming in costume between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. and have a photo taken in their costume.
Winning contestants will be notified by Nov. 2 and the winner must pick up their prize by Nov. 15 to be declared the winner.
This contest is separate from the Keiki Costume Contest hosted by KQNG Radio Group and Kukui Grove Center starting at 4:30 p.m., Monday, said Jonell Kaohelauli‘i, the Kukui Grove marketing director.
Following the contest, everyone is invited to participate in the mall-wide Trick-or-Treat Parade, which is expected to start around 5:30 p.m., Kaohelauli‘i said.
Leading up to Halloween Monday, the mall is also hosting its annual Haunted House in a space adjacent to The Jam Room coordinated by the Aloha Dance Studio. This is part of the month-long Freaky Fridays, that feature live theatrical performances at the exhibition area near Deja Vu.
“This year’s theme is Pirates of the Caribbean and there will be Zombie Pirates,” Kaohelauli‘i said.
The Haunted House will be open on Halloween from 4 to 7 p.m.
