LIHU‘E — The attorneys for Kathy S. Palama filed a negligence injury suit against Kukui Grove Center for an injury over a fall earlier this year.
Attorneys Roy Chang and Harvey M. Demetrakopoulos of Honolulu, filed the suit in Hawai‘i Fifth District Court on Sept. 13. They are suing Grove Farm Land Corp. and related entities for an incident that reportedly occurred on April 15.
Palama, 52, of ‘Ele‘ele, allegedly slipped and fell, which resulted in various injuries — the most serious to her left knee. The suit claims that the floor was in a hazardous or defective condition and presented unreasonable risk of harm to customers and the public.
The total amount of damages incurred is in excess of the minimum jurisdictional requirements of the circuit court. Palama is making a claim for reimbursement or subrogation on behalf of any entity that has paid benefits pursuant to law for injuries sustained.
The claim would cover costs covered or owed to workers compensation, statutory Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans Affairs, Tri-Care, or State of Hawaii Department of Human Services claims.
