LIHU‘E — The Hanapepe and Lihu‘e chapters of the Kaua‘i Ballroom Dance Club celebrates seven years of ballroom dancing on Kaua‘i on Oct. 22 at its Anniversary Ball.
The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort in Po‘ipu.
On Monday, Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. recognized the efforts of club members for promoting the art of dance.
He proclaimed Oct. 22 as Kaua‘i Ballroom Dance Club’s Seventh Year Anniversary Celebration at a ceremony at the County Building. The Kaua‘i Ballroom Dance Club is sponsored by the County of Kaua‘i, Department of Parks and Recreation.
The club provides social events for residents and visitors, plus weekly services to anyone interested in ball room dancing.
“We want to encourage everyone to take advantage of the benefits of the classes being offered by the Kaua‘i Ballroom Dance Club at our county neighborhood centers,” the proclamation states.
The theme of the celebration is “Come Dance with Us,” and the event includes a a no-host bar, dancing, buffet dinner, exhibition dance performances by club members and guest performers from Honolulu.
