LIHUE — A free keiki sports program is the beneficiary of the Kalapaki Joe’s Keiki Program benefit, Sunday, at the Harbor Mall location in Nawiliwili.
During the benefit, a portion of the night’s sales, as well as proceeds from a Lucky Drawing, will help launch a complimentary keiki sports program on Kaua‘i, states a release from the restaurant.
Children, ages 5 through 12, will have the opportunity to participate in Jiu-Jitsu classes and surf lessons, free for six months.
The program will launch Nov. 7 with surf lessons sponsored by Kama‘aina Surf and Sports at Kalapaki Beach at 3 p.m.
Kaua‘i Technical Institute in Lihu‘e will host its first Jiu-Jitsu class starting Nov. 7 at 6 p.m.
There is a limit of 25 students for each program.
The classes will continue for six months with surf lessons each Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Kama‘aina Surf and Sport, and Jiu-Jitsu classes each Monday starting at 6 p.m. at KTI.
A custom surfboard by Kelly Gregg of KGB Surfboards is the grand prize drawing which will take place at 7 p.m.
