LOUISIANA — The University of Hawai’i Warrior football team opens Western Athletic Conference play with a road game at Louisiana Tech, Saturday, Oct. 1 in Ruston, La. Kick-off is 6:00 p.m. CT (1:00 p.m. HT) at Joe Aillet Stadium.
The Warriors (2-2) open conference play against the Bulldogs for the third straight year and fourth time in the last five years. UH defeated Tech, 41-21, last season in Honolulu, however, the Bulldogs won, 27-6, in Ruston in 2009.
Hawai’i is coming off a 56-14 rout of UC Davis last Saturday at Aloha Stadium. Quarterback Bryant Moniz tied an NCAA record for most touchdowns in a half with seven while setting a new school-record with 424 yards passing in a half as the Warriors built a 49-0 lead at intermission. For his efforts, Moniz was named WAC Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Tech (1-3) dropped an overtime heartbreaker at Mississippi State, 26-20 in overtime. Two weeks ago, the Bulldogs held a 34-7 lead over Houston late in the third quarter before the Cougars rallied with 28 unanswered for the win. LTU’s three losses have been by a total of nine points.
