WAILUA — The 57th Annual Labor Day Motocross Championships and Hare & Hound Trail Races earlier this month concluded with a Kaua‘i boy on top of the podium.
Kaua‘i’s Puna Gallardo took home top honors with the Open class win on Sept. 3 at the Wailua Motocross Track.
For the Hare & Hound trail competition Travis Talbo was the top finisher with the fastest completion in the “A” Class, while Chance Daly was the top finisher in the “B” class. Other notable trail class winners were Ryan Gouveia, Clyde Rodgers and Peter Riccardi in the A classes. B class winners were Corey Sokei, Jesse Rabot, Curren Chang and Thomas Martins. In the C class, winners were Brandon Kanei and Sara Rabot.
The 50cc “C” class was the largest class of the day, with a lot of parents cheering on their riders at every turn. When the dust had settled it was Alexander Nelson from Kaua‘i as the overall winner.
On Sunday all motocross races were held on the main track. The most exciting races came in both the 250 expert & 125 expert classes as riders were setting record lap times. Alex Feyerisen took the 250 crown while Brandon Carvalho took home 125 class honors.
The next scheduled KMRA motocross race will be on Sunday. KMRA invites all participants to come out today to assist in the preparation of the track and to pre-register.
