Corrections and Clarifications for Tuesday, September 27, 2011

• A caption in a fireworks picture published Saturday should state that fireworks displays can be conducted throughout the year. The parties who set off fireworks on Wednesday had all necessary permits from U.S. Coast Guard, Federal Aviation Administration, Department of Land and Natural Resources and Kaua‘i Fire Department, according to county spokeswoman Beth Tokioka. They also had fulfilled all insurance requirements, she said.

• The Sunday article “Council heats up over resolution on salary freeze” should state that the Section 2 of the new resolution is an attempt to correct the old resolution. Some council members said the old resolution may be illegal because it gives authority to the council and the mayor to lower the salaries of officers and county employees which were not appointed by those bodies.
