LIHU‘E — County officials are reminding the public that an increase in the state motor vehicle weight tax and registration fee was approved by the 2011 State Legislature.
Vehicle registration renewal notices that are mailed to residents will reflect this increase starting with the Nov. 1, 2011 to Oct. 31, 2012 period, a county news release states.
Those whose car registrations expire on Oct. 31, 2011 will be charged the new rates.
All other transactions conducted at the Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) window from Nov. 1 on will also reflect the new rates, regardless of their due dates.
