The YWCA of Kaua‘i is hosting its 90th annual meeting at 5 p.m., Sept. 29 at Hukilau Lanai in Kapa‘a, according to a press release. This year’s theme is “Women and Men as Allies – Building Trust and Shared Ownership.”

This year’s theme is “Women and Men as Allies – Building Trust and Shared Ownership.” The YWCA invites women and men to become strong allies in the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women, the release states.
The guest speaker is Luolou Hong, who is the vice chancellor for student affairs at University of Hawai‘i at Hilo. Hong has years of experience in higher education settings and is a nationally sought after speaker and trainer in the areas of violence prevention, health promotion and organizational leadership, the release states.
Hong will be sharing her experiences working with young men committed to ending violence against women and girls at the Sept. 29 meeting.
Since 1921, the YWCA of Kaua‘i has offered services and programs for the community to meet the changing needs of island residents.
The YWCA currently offers programming designed to resolve the problems of challenging social needs of youth, sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse. The primary goal of all YWCA programs is safety and empowerment for all people.
