KILAUEA — A two-car collision Tuesday afternoon resulted in the southbound lane closure of Kuhio Highway for 30 minutes.
Shortly before 1 p.m., a 30-year-old woman driving a silver GMC SUV stopped in the southbound lane of Kuhio Highway, preparing to make a left turn onto Hookui Street, when her vehicle was struck from behind by a 66-year-old woman in a blue Honda sedan, a county news release stated.
The driver of the Honda sustained lacerations to her feet and front-end damage to her vehicle. Medics transported her to Wilcox Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the GMC reported no injuries, the county said, but her vehicle sustained moderate rear-end damage.
The southbound lane of Kuhio Highway re-opened at about 1:30 p.m. after crews removed the vehicles from the roadway.
