Bernice Nordmeier
Bernice Nordmeier of Hanapepe died Aug. 11, 2011, at her home at age 79. Born on May 30, 1932, in Kapa‘a, she retired as a cafeteria manager at Kaumakani and ‘Ele‘ele School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ida Medeiros; sister, Madeline Rodrigues; and brother, Edward Medeiros.
She is survived by her husband, Eric L. Nordmeier, Sr.; two daughters, Donna Nordmeier and Margie (Dominic) Alisna; three sons, Eric (Mitzi) Nordmeier Jr., Randy (Karen) Nordmeier, Darrick (Charlene) Nordmeier; brother, Frank A. (Violet) Medeiros; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held for the family.
Arrangements are made by Borthwick/Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Daisy Kahale
Daisy Kamakualani Kahale of Kekaha died on Aug. 20, 2011, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 28. Born on Aug. 21, 1982, in Waimea, she was an accountant with Ho‘ola Lahui Hawai‘i.
She is survived by her parents, Ricky and Amy Kahale of Ni‘ihau; grandmother, Mercy Shintani of Kekaha; brothers, Roger (Aveenalyn) Kahale of Honolulu and Ricky Kahale of Ni‘ihau; sisters, Donna-May (Bert) Kanahele of Kekaha; Glory Kahale of Kekaha; Apryle Kahale of Ni‘ihau and Valerie Kahale of Kekaha; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Services will be held at 11 a.m. followed by burial at the Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery. Aloha attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Walter Souza
Walter H. Souza died Aug. 22, 2011, at age 65. Born Feb. 5, 1946, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, he was a teacher with the Department of Education and St. Theresa.
He is survived by his wife, Sharan; sons, Kui Souza (Berna) of Kekaha and Walton Souza of Kekaha; three grandchildren, Salina, Danielle and Teagan; parent, Kikuye Napolean; brothers, Wayne H. (Jean) Souza of Hanapepe, Lester Souza of Honolulu, and Stephen Souza of Washington; father-in-law, Shigeru Okihara; sister-in-law, Faith (Bob) Ryder; brother-in-law, Steven (Donna) Okihara; nieces and nephews, Keri, Weston, Kelii and Dylan Souza, Tysen and Kasey Okihara, and Preston (Jennifer) Chong.
Services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, at St. Theresa Church; visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. with service to follow. Service officiated by Father Arnel Soriano.
Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.
