Charles Moura
Charles “Howard” Moura of Hanapepe died on Aug. 12, 2011, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital. He was born on Feb. 20, 1934, in Kapa‘a and was a retired fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cimmeron Louise Moura; his brother, Reginald Moura and sister, Marryann Pavao.
He is survived by his companion, Ella Kimokeo; three daughters, Rose (Ben) Jimenez, Cimmeron Louise Carmelita (Devin) Jones; hanai daughter, Makana (Clyde) Kia; four sons, Charles (Nita) Moura, James Moura, Howard (Gigi) Moura and hanai son, James McCool; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mildred Pimental, Caroline Santos, Katherine Kua, Dorothy Medeiros and Violet Yagihara; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Hanapepe Tennis Courts Pavilion at 9 a.m. Memorial services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Flowers omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Lawrence Miller
Lawrence “Larry” Miller of ‘Oma‘o, Kaua‘i died Aug. 16, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 66. Born Nov. 22, 1944, in Redondo Beach, Calif., he was a self-employed auto mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marie Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Jeri Miller of ‘Oma‘o; sons, Beau (Thao) Miller, of Honolulu, O‘ahu; Guy Miller of ‘Oma‘o; sisters, Linda (Craig) Christensen of Carmel, Calif., and Lisa (Rick) Saria of Arcata, Calif.; and two grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Koloa.
Lavera Sneed
Lavera “Tiel” Sneed of Koloa died Aug. 12, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. She was born on Oct. 30, 1955, in Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Birl Sneed Sr. and Bessie Jean Lewis Sneed; and daughter, Monique Sneed.
She is survived by her daughter, Chetney Sneed; hanai daughters, Oki Sneed, Randi Sneed and Kevie Sneed; hanai sons, Keysean Sneed and Karnel Sneed; brothers, Victor Sneed Sr. and Luther Sneed Jr.; sister, Afton “The Mayor” Denard Sneed and Katheryn Ranell Sneed; five grandchildren; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Po‘ipu Beach Park at 1 p.m. with a scattering of ashes to follow.
Bernice Nordmeier
Bernice Nordmeier of Hanapepe died Aug. 11, 2011, at her home at age 79. Born on May 30, 1932, in Kapa‘a, she retired as a cafeteria manager at Kaumakani and ‘Ele‘ele School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ida Medeiros; sister, Madeline Rodrigues; and brother, Edward Medeiros.
She is survived by her husband, Eric L. Nordmeier, Sr.; two daughters, Donna Nordmeier and Margie (Dominic) Alisna; three sons, Eric (Mitzi) Nordmeier Jr., Randy (Karen) Nordmeier, Darrick (Charlene) Nordmeier; brother, Frank A. (Violet) Medeiros; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held for the family.

Dennis Duque
Dennis Charles Duque of Mountain House, Calif., died Aug. 10, 2011, at his residence at age 61. He was born on May 11, 1950, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Josephine (Mike) Albayrak, Andrea (Nelson) Freitas and Delores Shafer.
He is survived by his sisters, Mary Jane Simao (Bernard) of Kalaheo, Diane Simao (Daryl) of Lawa‘i, Linda Koerte (Mike) of Hanama‘ulu; brothers, Larry Duque of Lihu‘e, Derrick Reis (Cindy) of Lawa‘i, Jacinto Duque of Boston, Mass., and brother-in-law, Mike Albayrak (Josie) of Newman, Calif.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Viewing will be at 9 a.m.; services will follow at 10 a.m. Casual attire is suggested.
Evone Watson
Evone “Lady” Leinani Watson of Kapa‘a died Aug. 20, 2011. Born in Lihu‘e on Oct. 11, 1957, she was formerly a billing clerk for Kaua‘i Medical Clinic.
She is survived by her mother, Elaine Watson; daughter, Chenoa Watson; sister, Eileen (Charlie) Bright; granddaughter, Mahina Honjo; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life was private.

Leonard Evans Jr.
Leonard Newson Evans Jr. of Waimea died July 5, 2011, at North Hawai‘i Community Hospital at the age of 55. Born on Aug. 16, 1955, in Santa Barbara, Calif., he was a substance abuse counselor for Hawai‘i Island Recovery.
He is survived by his mother, Amelia Santella of Wailua, Kaua‘i; son, Joshua Evans of Mountain View; sisters, Mary Bryan and Jeanette Williams, both of Kaua‘i; Frances Crabb of Honolulu; hanai brother, Wes Kalima, and hanai sister, Verna Chartrand, both of Waimea.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 28, at Kahilu Town Hall, across from Kahilu Theater in Waimea. Services will follow at 3 p.m.
