Kaua‘i Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. was able to squeeze in the event, noting the importance of not just learning how to swim, but learning the right way to swim, and Happy Birthday to Dr. Albert Halff who just happened to celebrate his 96th birthday on the same day as the meet.
Major Victor Aguilar just returned from the Mainland and was out Sunday with his Waimea High School Jr. ROTC troops who were helping with the timing and color guard duty.
The Kapa‘a High School Jr. ROTC units were working with Randy Yokoyama and the rest of the Kaua‘i County Farm Bureau members setting up for the fair which opens Thursday at 6 p.m.
Glenna Ueunten was getting requests from chefs looking for ingredients to use in the Kaua‘i Coffee (Marty Amaro will be there?) Celebrity Chef Cookoff for Charity and Sandy Poehnelt missed the Kukui Grove Monday Market because The Right Slice opened in Puhi.
