Hawai‘i PUC lags far behind other states

HONOLULU — It can’t be a good sign when a local nonprofit steps in to fund a government agency.

But that’s what’s happening in Hawai‘i.

The Blue Planet Foundation has pledged $200,000 to the Hawai‘i Public Utilities Commission to fund a study on on-bill financing — a study required by state law.
