The Kekahu Foundation, which operates KKCR — Kaua‘i’s independent, non-commercial, listener-supported community radio station — is now accepting applications for candidates for its Board of Directors, a news release states.
The Kekahu Foundation Board is responsible for ensuring that all legal and financial matters of the non-profit Kekahu Foundation are effectively managed to enable KKCR to meet its mission. Directors focus on the long-term direction, policies, financial health, community support, and stable operation of the Foundation and KKCR. They are not directly responsible for the day-to-day operation of the radio station. The board is seeking Kaua‘i residents who are passionate about community radio and wish to join our group of dedicated and energetic directors.
The board election will be conducted by mail during October, the release states.
To become a candidate, a person must be a Kaua‘i resident and must have been a member of the Kekahu Foundation/KKCR for at least a year at the time of application.
The application can be downloaded at the KKCR website, www.kkcr.org. Completed applications are due by Sept. 10.
KKCR broadcasts on FM frequencies 90.9, 91.9 and 92.7, cable at 95.1 and on the web at kkcr.org.
For more information, contact the KKCR business office at 826-7774 between noon and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, or call Marj Dente, board vice chair, at 823-8162.
