Coraline Ebinger
Coraline “Daling” Y. Ebinger of Kapahi died July 26, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 66. Born Dec. 27, 1944, in Honolulu, O‘ahu, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Anthony Ebinger; father, Eugene Yambaw; mother, Maxine Magsayo; sister, Yolanda Florio; and grandparents, Victor Magsayo and Flavia Suyat.
She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Lou (Stan) Moura of Hanapepe; Linda Ebinger of Kapahi and Clarissa (Wayne Jr.) Pacheco of Kapahi; grandson, Louis (Kellin Vea) Silva Jr.; granddaughter, Corrina Lynn Moura; great-granddaughters, Kanani E. Silva and Kiani H. Silva; sisters, Frances Toro of Washington; Debbie (Conrad) Negrone of Honolulu; Helena (Tenny) Watson of Las Vegas and Annette Mendiola (Curtis Yuh) of Honolulu; hanai brother, Alan Ah You and companion Joe Scalzo.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20, at 5891-C Kaapuni Road (Pacheco’s residence). Casual attire is suggested. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Mauro Valvieja
Mauro “Papa” Valvieja of Kapa‘a died Aug. 11, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 91. Born Nov. 16, 1919, in the Philippines, he was a mill tender at Lihu‘e Plantation.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leonora Valvieja; son, Antonio Valvieja; sister, Juliana Valvieja Alayvilla; great-granddaughter, Deysha Machado; and great-grandson, Cyrus Prem.
He is survived by sons, Ernesto Valvieja, Orlando (Rae Hiramoto) Valvieja; daughter, Marlene (Phillip Jr.) Eliana; daughter-in-law, Asun Valvieja; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Aug. 20, at St. Catherine’s Church in Kapa‘a. Visitation is at 8:30 a.m. and Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary, Koloa.
Joe Kuala
Joe Kuala of Koloa died peacefully on July 15, 2011, at home at age 68. He was born on March 15, 1943, in Honolulu.
He learned about resin and making surfboards as a boy on Waikiki Beach in the 1950s and made it his career until his retirement with the sale of his store, Progressive Expressions Surf Shop.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Miriam and Harry Kuala.
He is survived by his wife, Marty; daughters, Malia (Kawika) Rogers and Kehau (Zachary) Gilbert; grandchildren, Kahiau, Kalelei and Kawika-boy Rogers; Asa and Bodhi Gilbert.
A private family service has been held. A celebration of his life will be held on a future date.

Raymond Leach
Raymond Leach of Lihu‘e died at home on Aug. 1, 2011, at age 91. Born Feb. 25, 1920, in Canada, he was a retired carpenter.
He is survived by his sister, Ruby Drummond; brothers, Russell Leach, Jack Leach; hanai daughter and caregiver, Nancy Dacosin of Lihu‘e; hanai grandson, Nansen Todhunter of Lihu‘e; and many close friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 21, at Kalapaki Beach by the hotel.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Leach family with arrangements.
