John Kaneholani had the best seat for the Heiva I Kaua‘i, Sunday, tucked away behind the outrigger canoe. Mahalo to the little keiki for making sure there was lots of water to beat the heat.
Another round of kudos to Tepairu Manea and the Heiva committee on a great event…even JK was out videotaping for his show.
Steve Read, Michael Teruya (who said they don’t see him around?) and Mario Perez had their arsenal of Canon equipment out for the two days, and mahalo to Jim Jung for the company.
Earlier in the day, Ernie Domingo and Skip Cacayon were doing breakfast at Walmart, Ernie noting how the Hanama‘ulu Hillsiders squeezed out their division title during the state senior softball tournament in Kona. Ernie said Peter Rayno had two homeruns.
Jed Sueoka was hanging with his family during the toro nagashi ceremony and was just asking about Skip.
Shelly Gerardo said the toro nagashi was one of Dick Holtzman’s favorite events on Kaua‘i so she was doing some phone pix to send to him, and sister Tammy Pu‘u was busy helping dad Herbert Miyazaki light the toro.
