Shane Liberty Abell of Anahola died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on July 14, 2011, at age 28. Born in Oregon on July 4, 1983, he was a mason with Spencer Masonry.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Makai Abell.
He is survived by his wife, Dana Abell; son, Kalalea Abell; daughter, Alena Abell; father, Jim (Jill) Abell; mother, Anita Vertefeuille; brothers, Jeff (Lauren) Abell and Saul Abell; sister, Serena Abell; in-laws, Dorina San Augustine and Russell Kam; nephew, Bryce Abell and nieces, Jenna and Zophia Abell.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 30, at Anahola Beach Park beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a sunset paddle out.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Abell family with arrangements.

Joseph Kamealoha Kanahele Jr. of ‘Ele‘ele died on July 26, 2011, at his home at the age of 53. Born on October 12, 1957, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, he was a retired heavy equipment operator with O. Thronas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Kamealoha Kanahele Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Blossom L. Kanahele; sons, Derek (Maile) Kanahele of Niihau; Byron Kilolani Kanahele of ‘Ele‘ele; Conner Mikiela Kanahele of ‘Ele‘ele and Vernon (Jonell) Kaohelaulii of Kaumakani; daughters, Kristy (Manaui) Kaohelaulii; Blossom Hiilei Kanahele; Ashely Nanialoha Kanahele all of ‘Ele‘ele; Shirley (Greg) Kaohelaulii of Kaumakani and Heidi Manaoioi Kanahele of Lihu‘e; one grandchild; mother, Kahalamapuana Kanahele; brothers, Alvin (Sandra) Kanahele of Makaweli; Julius Kanahele and Elvis (Melody) Kanahele both of Hanapepe; sisters, Darlene M. Beniamina of Makaweli; Sharon (Joseph) Kanahele of Kekaha and Connie (Wally) Rita of Omao; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 2, at Garden Island Mortuary chapel. Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery. Aloha attire is suggested.
