Members of Hanapepe Church of the Nazarene celebrate Tristain Hedges’ $40,000 scholarship award. The Kekaha student is a graduate of Waimea High School class of 2011. He said he plans to use the scholarship to attend Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tenn. Hedges, along with eight other youth and two youth pastors from Hanapepe Church of the Nazarene, attended the Nazarene Youth Convention in Louisville, Ky., from July 5 to 10. The conference meets every four years, and the conference emphasizes worship, service projects, meeting new friends and experiencing a life-changing moment, according to a news release.
