LIHU‘E — Today is the deadline to make reservations for the Kaua‘i Filipino Chamber of Commerce membership meeting which will be held July 29 at Tiano’s Restaurant in Lihu‘e.
Reservations are $25 for Kaua‘i Filipino Chamber of Commerce members and $30 for non-members. Pupu service starts at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow.
During the meeting, the three recipients of the Kaua‘i Filipino Chamber of Commerce scholarships will be presented.
Edie Ignacio Neumiller, the Scholarship Committee co-chair, was joined by Ernie Pasion, the Kaua‘i Filipino Chamber of Commerce president, in announcing McStehens Balisa, Danah Abundo and Gerlie Ann Lacerona as this year’s recipients.
Each student will be receiving a $1,000 scholarship, Pasion said.
Balisa, a Kaua‘i High School graduate, is planning to attend the University of Hawai‘i at Mano‘a with a major in Mechanical Engineering.
Abundo, another Kaua‘i High School graduate, is looking to a career in nursing and has been accepted to the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa, George Fox University and Drexel University.
Lacerona, a graduate of Waimea High School, also is looking to nursing in her future, her course taking her to Kaua‘i Community College.
