Lodrego Ruiz Cabacungan of Oceanside, Calif., died on June 10, 2011. Born on April 22, 1936, in Hanapepe, he retired as a mechanical engineer for Ford Aerospace and was retired as a SFC E7 with the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his father, Placido and mother, Alejandra Cabacungan.
He is survived by his wife, Aurelia Vallejo Cabacungan of Oceanside, Calif.; brother, Sonny (Barbara) Cabacungan of Carlsbad, Calif.; sisters, Violet Aceret of Hanapepe; Maggie Honjo (Walter) of Kalaheo; Leonora Vidinha (Michael) of Pakala; sister, Mary Leong of San Francisco; son, Adrian Cabacungan of Oceanside, Calif.; daughters, Mamie Cabacungan of Westford, Mass.; Tammy (Tom) Caligiuri of Koloa; Samantha (Jeff) Bloom of Huntington Beach, Calif.; Nichol Cabacungan of Anaheim, Calif.; Laura Vallejo of Oceanside, Calif.; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, at Hanapepe Veterans Pavilion and Cemetery. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., service begins at 10:30 a.m.. Burial to follow at 11 a.m. Aloha attire is suggested.

Nicolle Walto died July 3, 2011.
She went to Kaiser High School on O‘ahu, was a dietary Aide at Straub Hospital, a cashier at Koloa Big Save and threw papers for The Garden Island newspaper.
She is survived by her family, John and Cookie Walto; sister, Patricia Yakimetz; and son, Johnathan Douglas Pomaikai Herbert.
She is remembered as a very loving, compassionate person and a true friend who was always there to help those in need. When you think of her, remember her great smile, laughter, gift of gab, and her deep love for others.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 p.m. until dusk, Tuesday, July 19, at Brenneckes Beach Park.

Carol F. “Poki” Rodriguez died June 6, 2011, at age 59. Born Oct. 10, 1951, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, she enjoyed gardening and her pets, Tugi and Ginger. Poki was proud of the numerous job-related awards she received.
The family would like to thank the South Side Dialysis Center for its loving care. She loved everyone there, staff as well as patients.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Shigenori and Betty Nishikawa.
She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Richard; brother, Harris Nishikawa of Waimea, Kaua‘i; nieces and nephews, Desiree (Eddie) Vigil, Simon (Aileen) Gonzales, Buddy (Lena) Rodriguez, Ronnie (Debbie) Rodriguez and Daniel and Eve Nishikawa; great-nieces and nephews, Alycia and Arianna Vigil, Ceasar and Kaiden Gonzales, Nathan and Janelle Rodriguez, Yvonne and Angelina Rodriguez; godson, Angelo Ramirez; and special friends, Debbie Rivera, Joanna Benavidez and Bellma of Juarez, Mexico.

Erlinda Eala Udarbe of Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i died July 6, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 75. Born on August 8, 1935 in the Philippines. She was a retired housekeeper for Sheraton Kaua‘i Resorts.
She is survived by her husband, Tino Udarbe; son, Charito (Editha) Udarbe; daughters, Emily (Jhun) Mariano, Jane (Pio) Pimiento, Mila (Steve) Absher; brothers, Epifanio (Elvira) Eala, Max Eala, Lucrecio (Emerita) Eala, Rogelio (Juanita) Eala; 13 grandchildren, Constantine (Lani) Udarbe, Catherine Udarbe, Noel Udarbe, Mark Udarbe, Charles Udarbe, Cheryl (Clifford) Villan, Jaime Mariano, Jasmine Mariano, Joan Mariano, Raquel (Terrence) Del Rosarie, Paul (Ashley) Absher, Alicia Absher, Chris Pimienta; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit wit the family from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 22, at Borthwick/Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa and again on Saturday, July 23, at Borthwick/Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa where services will be celebrated from 8 to 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery.

Mitchell “Mitch” Spencer Nakamura of Lihu‘e died on June 23, 2011, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 68. Born in Lihu‘e on March 26, 1943, he was a heavy equipment operator and a fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Octavia P. Nakamura; parents, Joseph Sr. & Elsie Nakamura; brothers, Joseph Jr. & Philbert Nakamura.
He is survived by his sons, Allen (Nani) Bactad of Waimea; Joe (Corina) Bactad of Hanamaulu; Tom (Debbie) Benuzui of Nevada; Mitchell (Shannon) Nakamura of Hanapepe; daughters, Charmaine (Alfred) Bactad of Hanamaulu; Helen (Ralph) Tokuda of Lihu‘e; Cheryl (Matt) Lemalu of Hanamaulu; Patricia (Eric) Arizo of Waimea; Dene (Kelly) Soares of Kapa‘a; Leilani Squire of Waimea; Raynette (Orlando) Bactad of California; Eunice (Rick) Estacio of Hanamaulu; hanai daughter, Leolani Velasco of Lihu‘e; 46 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; brother, William (Nela) Nakamura of Texas; sisters, Lani Soto of Kapa‘a; Momi Nakamura of Hanamaulu and Lana (Nelson) Lopes of Lihu‘e.
