Henry Kaipo Kanahele of Pukaiki, Ni‘ihau, died July 15, 2011, at Kekaha at the age of 76. Born on Sept. 14, 1934, in Pukaiki, Ni‘ihau, he was kahu with Iubile Church and retired ranch foreman with Ni‘ihau Ranch.
He is survived by his wife, Mililani Kanahele; sons Kaipo Kanahele Jr. (Caren) of Nanakuli, O‘ahu, Enoka Kaohelauli‘i (Ala) of Pu‘uwai, Ni‘ihau, Elia Kanahele of Kekaha, Nalani Kanahele (Ala) of Makaweli and Keaupuniokalani Kanahele of Alabama; daughters Pualei Kaohelauli‘i of Kekaha, Dr. Kuuipolani (Keola) Wong of Kaneohe, O‘ahu, Hillary Kanahele of Kaumakani, Rachel Kaohelauli‘i off Kekaha, Moki Niheu-Yong of Hanapepe and Naleieha Kanahele of Hanapepe; 24 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Leiawapuhi (Kauionalani) Kahale of Kekaha; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 9 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 20, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel. Service is at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Kekaha Hawaiian Cemetery. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
