Rafael Ragasa Sr.
Rafael Ibe Ragasa Sr. of Puhi died peacefully on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Garden Isle Healthcare at age 85. Born Oct. 24, 1925, in St. Cruz, Philippines, to parents Catalino Pizarro Ragasa and Martina Ibe Ragasa, he served in the U.S. Army and retired as a mechanic for the Del Monte, Corp of Moloka‘i.
He was preceded in death by his late wife, Patrocinio Yadao Ragasa; parents; siblings, Praxedes Ragasa, Pedro Ragasa, Santiago (Alejandro) Ragasa, Lourdes Ragasa, Fernando (Matea) Ragasa, Crispin (Leonila) Ragasa, Jose Ragasa; brother-in-laws, Vicente Asuncion, Arturo Yadao, Elpideo Tangonan; and sister-in-law, Rosalina Alquiza.
He is survived by his children, Ralph Ragasa Jr. of Puhi, Erlinda (Joe) Velasco of Kapolei, Carol (Matt) Beadle of Puhi; eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Ericka, CJ, Kelsie, Tierney, Tayden, Treysyn and Alohi; siblings, Josefina (Felix) Iloreta of Kapa‘a, Caridad Asuncion of Las Vegas, Rosario (Violet) Ragasa of Moloka‘i; sisters-in-law, Esmerna Ragasa, Elena Ragasa and Dolores Tangonan of the Philippines; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m. with Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at the Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Mortuary in Koloa.
Grace Ramiscal
Grace Fernandez Ramiscal of Kapa‘a died June 26, 2011, at Straub Clinic and Hospital at age 39. She was born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines on Aug. 28, 1971, and was a shift supervisor for Jeans Warehouse Kaua‘i.
She is survived by her parents, Ludovico “Alfredo” and Gabriela “Gabby” Ramiscal; brothers, Cherry (Haidee) Ramiscal and Michael Ramiscal; nephew, Cedric Ramiscal, all of Kapa‘a; Aunty Gonyang (Rick) Estrada; Aunty Estrella Ramiscal; Aunty Eugenia Molina and family of the Philippines; cousin, Estring Miguel and family; cousin, Jerry Molina and family of O‘ahu; numerous aunties, uncles, cousins and dear friends in Hawai‘i and the Philippines.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 16, at Immaculate Conception Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery at 11:15 a.m.

Mitchell “Mitch” Spencer Nakamura of Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i died June 23, 2011, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 68. Born in Lihu‘e on March 26, 1943, he was a heavy equipment operator and a fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Octavia P. Nakamura; parents, Joseph Sr. and Elsie Nakamura; brothers, Joseph Jr. and Philbert Nakamura.
He is survived by his sons, Allen (Nani) Bactad of Waimea, Joe (Corina) Bactad of Hanama‘ulu, Tom (Debbie) Benuzui of Nevada, Mitchell (Shannon) Nakamura of Hanapepe; daughters, Charmaine (Alfred) Bactad of Hanama‘ulu, Helen (Ralph) Tokuda of Lihu‘e, Cheryl (Matt) Lemalu of Hanama‘ulu, Patricia (Eric) Arizo of Waimea, Dene (Kelly) Soares of Kapa‘a, Leilani Squire of Waimea, Raynette (Orlando) Bactad of California, Eunice (Rick) Estacio of Hanama‘ulu; hanai daughter, Leolani Velasco of Lihu‘e; 46 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; brother, William (Nela) Nakamura of Texas; sisters, Lani Nakamura of Kapa‘a, Momi Nakamura of Hanama‘ulu and Lana (Nelson) Lopes of Lihu‘e.

Buddy Lizama Sr.
Buddy Lizama Sr. of Kapa‘a died peacefully at his home with his family by his side on July 5, 2011, at age 79. Born Aug. 15, 1931, on Kaua‘i, he retired from the County of Kaua‘i Department of Motor Vehicles as a drivers examiner.
He is survived by his wife, Marian Cremer Lizama; son, Buddy (Dorrian) Lizama Jr. of Kapa‘a; daughters, Mary (Gregory) Sur of O‘ahu, Rhonda Lizama of Kapa‘a, Elizabeth Hashitate of Kapa‘a; sister, Anne (Francis) Noguchi of Kapa‘a; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; nephews and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, July 15, at St. Catherine’s Church with viewing at 9 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Kealia Cemetery.

Cynthia Misao Sato of ‘Oma‘o died July 5, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 86. Born Oct. 24, 1924, in Ahukini, she was a computer operator.
She is survived by her brother, Harry Sato of California; sisters, Nancy Takayo Hamada of Lihu‘e, and Mildred (Donald) Konishi of ‘Oma‘o; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held. Family request no kodan.
Kenneth Shioi
Kenneth Shiro Shioi of Honolulu died July 10, 2011, at Kahala Nui at age 94. Born in Makaweli, Kaua‘i, he was a retired president of Kenneth Shioi and Co. Ltd.
He is survived by his wife, Esther; son, Randall (Cherlyn); daughters, Allene (Carl) Hayashi (Kona), Eloise (Conrad) Murashige and Shereen (Roger) Ikeda; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial service is at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at Nu‘uanu Memorial Park and Mortuary. Graveside inurnment service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2011 at Nu‘uanu Memorial Park. Casual attire.

Erlinda Eala Udarbe of Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i died July 6, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 75. Born on Aug. 8, 1935, in the Philippines, she was a retired housekeeper for Sheraton Kaua‘i Resorts.
She is survived by her husband, Tino Udarbe; son, Charito (Editha) Udarbe; daughters, Emily (Jhun) Mariano, Jane (Pio) Pimiento, Mila (Steve) Absher; brothers, Epifanio (Elvira) Eala, Max Eala, Lucrecio (Emerita) Eala, Rogelio (Juanita) Eala; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and newphews.

Toni Bailey
Toni Lynn Bailey of Hilo died June 15, 2011, at home at age 55. Born in Arizona, she retired as a food server on Kaua‘i.
She is survived by her daughter, Tishanna Bailey Ben of Kaua‘i; brothers, William Dean Bailey of Hilo and Jimmy Zeb Bailey of Arizona.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, at Wailoa State Park in Hilo. Services will also be at noon, Sunday, July 17, at Po‘ipu Beach Park on Kaua‘i.
