Mitsue Kumakura of Llihu‘e died on July 4, 2011 at Garden Isle Health Care at the age of 85. Born on July 25, 1925 in Llihu‘e, Kaua‘i, she was a retired secretary with civil service.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the Llihu‘e Honjwanji. Casual attire is suggested, no kodan (monetary donations), flowers omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary.
Manuel “Bunky” Untalan of Anahola died on June 17, 2011 at the age of 28. Born in Guam on January 7, 1983, he was a construction worker. He was active with his softball team the “Killahs” and loved going to the beach. “Bunks” was a loving and humble person and a great uncle. He will be greatly missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Heather Hokulani Woodward; grandparents, Samuel Woodward, Edith Woodward, Greg Untalan and Magdelina Untalan.
He is survived by his father, Adriene C. Untalan of Oahu; brother, Keola (Shanti) Cruz of Anahola; sister, Adrianna (Eugene) Seamster of Kapa‘a; niece, Sharmaine Morita; nephew, Kairyn Cruz-Oga; numerous cousins, aunties, uncles and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2011, visitation begins at 9:30 a.m. and service to follow at 11 a.m. at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall. Spreading of ashes will be held at Anini Beach on Sunday, July 10, 2011 at 10 a.m.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Untalan family with arrangements.
