L IHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Police Department has begun posting videos of crimes in progress to its website, in hopes that the public can help to identify culprits, a county press release states.
“KPD is constantly looking at ways to get the community involved in helping us to deter illegal activity and solve crimes on Kaua‘i,” said Assistant Chief Roy Asher, of the Investigative Services Bureau. “The online posting of crimes in progress videos is an added tool in soliciting the public’s assistance.”
Surveillance videos of suspects caught in the act are being posted on a case by case basis to KPD’s website. Go to www.kauai.gov/police to watch the videos.
The video currently on the website shows a male attempting to break into a residence located on South ‘Aliomanu Road in Anahola just before 4:30 p.m. on May 11.
Anyone with information on the person depicted in the video is asked to call Crimestoppers at 241-1887.
Another recent addition to KPD’s website is an online form to anonymously report suspicious activity. Tips will be forwarded to the appropriate department.
