‘Bon’ fire

Volunteers from the West Kaua‘i Hongwanji, Hanapepe Temple man the keawe fire and resulting yaki products while lines, attracted by the unique aroma of burning keawe, form for the popular pronto pups, flying saucers and saimin at the Friday bon dance. The Kaua‘i Buddhist Council will resume the bon dances July 8 and 9 at the Lihu‘e Hongwanji Mission in Kapaia starting at 7:30 p.m.
