Joel Harold Ehrlich of Lihu‘e died June 15, 2011, at home at age 54. Born Oct. 18, 1956, in Stanford, Calif., he was a pharmacist at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. He loved sailing with friends at Nawiwili Yacht Club and was a devoted father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernhard and Jean Ehrlich.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Ehrlich, and daughter, Alexa Ehrlich, both of Lihu‘e; brother, John (Kathi) Ehrlich of Oregon; sisters, Joanne Ehrlich of Oregon, and Jane (John) Marshall of Aloha, Ore.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Starla Hawes of Oregon; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, June 23, at Lihu‘e Lutheran Church with visitation at 4 p.m. and services celebrated at 5 p.m. Burial will follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery.
Flowers graciously declined. Donations may be made to Wilcox Health Foundation in memory of Joel.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Ehrlich family with arrangements.
John F. Kawakami of Lihu‘e died June 9, 2011, at age 50. Born Jan. 16, 1961, in Honolulu, he was a fisherman.
He is survived by his companion, Mary Kojiri; son, Chance of Koloa; daughter, Sonoi of Lihu‘e; parents, Toru and May Kawakami; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 26, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service at 11 a.m.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
