Sandy Poehnelt of The Right Slice used the 23rd Annual Taste of Hawai‘i to launch three new products: a Shaka Pie Pop, a Lotus Pie and some Menehune munchie pie.
She had the help of “junior piemaker” Abbie Bowen and the new products met with some good responses.
Great job to Paula Saylor on another great Taste of Hawai‘i — they even had logowear to go with the event, this year.
Freckles Smith was doing a good job making sure everyone was safe, staying with a kupuna who wanted to take a shortcut over the mountain, and Zack Octavio and his American Medical Response team were on hand as they’ve been for the history of the event.
Russell Reynolds recruited Kenny Ishii to help with the furikake rice, smoked meat and kim chee offering and Anwar Roberts, Martin Solano, Eddie Gudoy and Glenn Ching of the St. Regis culinary crew had the right idea of enjoying the shade of the Australian Pine, locally known as the Ironwood, before the crowd started coming in.
