LIHU‘E — For the next couple nights, construction workers will be putting final touches in the new Wailua Bridge, affecting the traffic in the area while work is performed.
Lane closures will take place Tuesday and Wednesday nights in the Wailua Bridge area from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews do permanent road striping work for new lane configurations, one of the final tasks now that both lanes of new Wailua Cane Haul Bridge are open to the public, according to a Bow Construction press release.
Traffic will be routed to open lanes. Motorists are advised to allow for extra travel time and to watch for updates on the electronic message boards on either side of the bridge.
The speed limit in this construction zone is 25 mph, according to the release.
Both lanes of the Wailua Cane Haul Bridge are now for northbound traffic only, and both lanes of the Wailua River Bridge on Kuhio Highway are for southbound travel.
