LIHU‘E — The Waimea Menehune followed their 2011 boys volleyball championship season with the highest number of All-Star selections.
The Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation announced its All-Star team Tuesday, with Waimea leading the pack with four selectees.
The first-round champion Kaua‘i Red Raiders followed with three, including the Player of the Year in junior Donovan Harrison.
Waimea senior Kevin Killerman and junior Kaili Schumacher-Lagundino took two of the three Outside Hitter positions, while Kapa‘a High School senior Matt Domingcil nabbed the third selection.
Harrison was chosen at Middle Blocker, along with Waimea senior Kalen McCracken.
Kaua‘i senior Setter Jon Butac and Waimea junior Libero Devan Banasihan-Kenney completed the All-Star squad.
Winning another KIF crown, Waimea coach Tony Magaoay was honored as Coach of the Year.
Waimea entered the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Boys Volleyball Division II tournament unseeded, but fell 3-0 in the opening round to No. 4 Kohala.
The Menehune went 9-6 on the season, including HHSAA play.
They knocked off the Red Raiders in four sets to win the KIF championship after going 5-1 to win the second round.
