WAIMEA — People interested in learning about drug trends in Hawai‘i can attend a free drug awareness presentation on May 2.
Provided by the Kaua’i Police Department, in conjunction with the West Kaua‘i Business and Professional Association and Laulima Hawai‘i, the presentation focuses on trends, as well as over-the-counter drugs that have led to overdoses in Hawai’i, a county press release said. It will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Waimea Theater.
Keynote speaker Gary Shimabukuro has been providing drug education for businesses, schools, apprenticeship programs, labor organizations, management groups, law enforcement agencies, military personnel and other organizations since 1978, the press release said. He owns the Laulima Hawai’i, an organization that provides drug awareness and prevention education for the workplace and the community.
