Kenji Miyata, showing strong for Kapa‘a High School in Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation golf play, fired a two-over par 74 to claim the title of the 15-18 Championship division at the 2011 Mokihana Cup, Mar. 27 at the Kaua‘i Lagoons Golf Club.
Braeden Robley, a consistent scoring player for Kaua‘i High School, finished in the runner up spot for the 15-18 Championship flight with an 81, four strokes ahead of La‘akea Warren (85).
Kenneth Chun, another Red Raider golfer, topped the 15-18 “A” Flight with a 109.
Naea Oda took her match 4&3 over Kawena Warren, currently playing as a Waimea freshman in the KIF season, in the 13-14 Girls Championship, Kaua‘i Junior Golf Association Tournament Director Ron Peeren noting this was the only division playing a Match Play format.
Bryden Salvador topped the 13-14 Championship flight with a 78, five strokes ahead of Kainalu Gandia who finished with an 83, three strokes ahead of K.C. Loo (86). Landen Ishida rounded out the flight with a 94.
Keith Jose topped the 13-14 “A” Flight with an 88, three strokes better than Jamie Amimoto who finished with a 91.
Trevor Kua topped the 11-12 Championship flight with an 80, seven strokes better than Rilen Loo who filled the runner up berth on an 87.
Logan Gibson finished the flight with a 102, three strokes ahead of Reece Valencia (105).
Christian Ganir took the 10 & Under Tees with a 95 over James Pratt who filled in the runner up spot with a 108. Mason Gibson filled in the division with a 114.
