LIHU‘E — The public is invited to attend a meeting on Wednesday, March 30, to discuss a major project — the Lihu‘e pipeline replacement project — which is expected to be completed at the end of the year, a county news release states.
The meeting will be held at the Wilcox Elementary School cafeteria starting at 7 p.m.
Officials with the Department of Water and Department of Public Works along with the general contractor, BCP Construction of Hawai‘i, will provide an overview of the project and construction schedule. They will also be available to answer questions, the release states.
The scope of work for the Lihu‘e pipeline replacement project involves the replacement of 6,870 linear feet of waterline and waterline accessories along Eiwa, Umi, Akahi, Elua, and Hardy streets as well as Alohi Place, Uiki Place and Lalei Place.
A detailed map of the affected streets is available on the water department’s website, www.kauaiwater.org.
The Lihu‘e project is part of DOW’s Water Plan 2020, a comprehensive, long range planning effort, to ensure that safe, affordable and sufficient drinking water is provided to Kaua’i residents over the next two decades.
