Emilio Diaz
Emilio C. Diaz of Kilauea died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 5, 2011, at age 97. Born in the Philippines, he retired form the Princeville Golf Course as greens-keeper.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Esperanza Belmonte, and son, Benjamin Diaz.
He is survived by his daughters, Purificacion (Lawrence) Dizon of Lawa‘i; Theresita (Dr. Renato) Aoanan of Canada; Rolinda (Felix) Deyro of Kalaheo; daughter-in-law, Paciencia Diaz of Canada; sons, Dr. Arnulfo (Dr. Luz) Diaz of Kapa‘a, Alfredo Diaz of Florida; grandchildren, Michael Diaz of Chicago, Edgar (Eva) Deyro of Las Vegas; Gwendolyn (Eric) Crawford of Seattle, Leolani Diaz of San Francisco, Adrian (Valerie) Diaz of Colorado, Jeremy (Danielle) Diaz of Texas, Janelle Hacault of Canada; great-grandchildren, Beau Diaz, Xavier Diaz, Kaden Emilio Diaz, Gabriel Diaz, Alexis Diaz, Dylan Deyro, Jonah D. Crawford; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, March 26, at the Immaculate Conception Church with visitation from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Garden.

Donald Kuebler
Donald Eugene Kuebler of Princeville died March 14, 2011, at home at age 75. Born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on July 22, 1935, he was the owner of Spinning Dolphin Designs in Hanalei and was an artist and avid sailor.
He is survived by his wife, Melanie Kuebler of Princeville; daughters, Rebecca (Scott) Eitel of Chico, Calif., Stephanie Lee; son, Travis (Kerry) Wilker of Long Beach, Calif.; grandsons, Dayne Eitel, Randy Eitel, Kane Wilker; granddaughter, Joey Wilker; great-grandsons, Griffen Eitel, Mason Eitel; great-granddaughters, Claire Eitel, Madison Eitel.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Kuebler family with arrangements.
Judy Kubota
Judy Fujiko Kubota of Waimea died Feb. 21, 2011, at The Queen’s Medical Center. Born March 29, 1928, in Koloa, Kaua‘i, she was a retired administrative assistant at the Waimea Dispensary.
She is survived by husband Yoshio Kubota; daughters Rhonda Isekawa, Corrine Lau; son Stace Kubota; sisters Nobuko Tomomitsu, Molly Emiko Ikeda, Sally Tatsuko Lee; brother Harlan “Bumpo” Kinoshita; and six grandchildren.
Service will be held March 26 at the Waimea United Church of Christ. Visitation at noon, service begins at 1 p.m.
Family requests casual attire.
Sarah Sheldon
Sarah “Aunty Sarah” Wong Kelekoma Sheldon of Anahola died March 13, 2011, at age 99 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born Feb. 13, 1912, in Hanalei, she retired as a school teacher and assistant manager of Coco Palms Resort.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. K. Sheldon, and son, Samuel W. K. Sheldon.
She is survived by her sister, Elsie Bruce of Pacifica, Calif.; sons, Henry K. (Gladys) Sheldon, Thomas L. Sheldon, Richard (Jeannie) Sheldon; hanai son, Albert (Setsuko) Fukushima; daughter, Joyanne (James) Dilwith; grandchildren, Carol (Wayne) Kahanu, William (Alika) Sheldon, Kunane Sheldon, Bruce Sheldon, Mel Fukushima, Clinton (Terrie) Fukushima, Ada (Hiroshi) Kawatsu, Sam (Marianne) Sheldon, Kamalu (Irene) Sheldon, Kalani Addington, Cherie Logan, Momi (Fig) Micthell, Keala (Morris) Unutoa, Dan Sheldon, Brianne (Jerry) Shiroma; 25 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; numerous extended family, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be on Friday, March 25, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints – Kapa‘a Ward. Viewing is at 9 a.m.; services at 11 a.m. with burial to follow. Family requests aloha attire or Sunday best.

Gabriel Silva of Lawa‘i died March 14, 2011, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at age 91. Born June 20, 1919, in Honolulu, he was retired with E.F Nilson Construction.
He was preceded in death by son Nick Silva; brothers Freddy, George, Harry, Johnny, Albert, Louis, Gilbert, Clarence Silva; sister Aida Licayan; daughters-in-law Ofelia Erese and Michelle Silva.

Doris K.H. Hironaka of Wailua Homesteads died March 3, 2011, at her home at age 79. Born Dec. 9, 1931, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, she was a self-employed farmer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel T. Hironaka.
She is survived by her son, Myles (Irene) Hironaka of Wailua Homesteads, Kaua‘i; daughter, Colleen Hironaka of Honolulu; brother, Herbert Hamura (Jean) of Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i; numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, at the Kapa‘a United Church of Christ. Service at 3 p.m.

Flora Medrano Domingsel of Hanama‘ulu, Kaua‘i, died March 13, 2011, at her residence at age 83. Born Aug. 18, 1927, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Federico B. Domingsel; parents, Hilario and Atanacia Medrano.
She is survived by her daughter, Mercy (Dennis “Nick”) Rego; son, Alfred (Gale Maeda) Domingsel, Benito (Battie Keala) Domingsel; brother, Angel Medrano; sister-in-law, Anna Medrano; brother-in-law, Richard Lopez; grandchildren, Dennis “DJ” (Janet Banasihan) Rego, Sherrilee (Jarrett Rabot) Rego, Lori (John Afos) Ryan (Anabel Andres) Domingsel, Ryden (Jennifer Masada-White) Domingsel, Haunani, Keala, Kawiki Domingsel. Joseph “Pidot” Baxa of Koloa, Kaua‘i, died March 5, 2011, at the Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 69. Born Jan. 23, 1942, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, he was a laborer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Felomino Baxa.
He is survived by his mother, Felicencia Rivera Galicinao; daughter, Shamara Duhaylongsod; sisters, Gloria (Ben) Ordinario, Nancy Galicinao; brothers, Albert (Judy) Baxa, Richard (Susan) Galicinao; numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Private services were held.

Alfonso Sagucio
Alfonso G. Sagucio of Hanapepe, Kaua‘i, died March 7, 2011, at the Kaua‘i Care Center in Waimea at age 94. Born Aug. 15, 1916, in the Philippines, he was a retired laborer with the sugar plantation.
He is survived by his sons, Randolf (Josie) Sagucio, Al (Edna) Sagucio; daughters, Sally Sagucio, Andrea (Richard) Verzola; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchilren.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, March 26, at ‘Ele‘ele Sacred Hearts Church from 8 a.m. where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.; burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.

Joe Tafua
Joe Leo Tafua of Kekaha, Kaua‘i, died March 11, 2011, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, at age 60. Born April 19, 1950, in American Samoa, he retired as a truck driver for the Kekaha Sugar Plantation Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Lualuania Tafua.
He is survived by his wife, Rachael Tafua; sons, Francis and Daniel Tafua; daughter, Jonell (Vernon) Kaohelauli’i and Jannah Tafua; sister, Pamata Tafua; brother, Liona Tafua; grandchildren, Fa‘a, Leo, Tua, Faith, Soriah, Leah, Camille, Zayna.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 25, at Waimea Baptist Church, Kaua‘i. Family requests aloha attire.

Josephine Freitas Guillermo of Waipahu died Feb. 19, 2011, at age 92 in Waipahu. She was born on July 28, 1918, in Kilauea, Kaua‘i.
She is survived by her daughters, Aloha Linda Guillermo and Theresa Guillermo DeRego; brother William Freitas; sisters Hilda Camara, Kathleen F. Peo and Loretta F. Boro.
