LIHU‘E — For the first time, trainers from U.S. Government Grants, a nationally known grant writing training company, will conduct a grant management workshop on Kaua’i.
Sponsored by the Anti-Drug office, the two-day training course will focus on: federal regulations, national objectives, grant requirements, reporting processes, cost variances, and evaluation processes to ensure grant compliance and continuation of funding.
The workshop will be held on March 30 and 31 at the Kaua’i Beach Resort, orchid room, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both days.
There is no charge to attend the workshop. Lunch will be served on both days.
Registration is limited to 35 participants with preference given to county and state employees and community partners.
Participants are asked to attend both sessions as the training will build upon the previous day’s information.
This workshop is a follow-up to the grant writing training that was held in September of last year.
Beverly Santicola, president and CEO of U.S. Government Grants, and Tina Rongers, consultant with U.S. Government Grants, will be flying to Hawai’i from Houston and Chicago to conduct the workshop.
Santicola is a certified federal grants administrator as well as a federal grants reviewer, and has earned a reputation for being one of the nation’s best grant writing instructors.
Over the last 10 years, Santicola has trained more than 3,000 individuals throughout the U.S., including employees of government agencies, educational institutions, health care providers and nonprofits.
Rongers holds a master’s degree in urban planning and policy with a specialization in economic development from the University of Illinois, Chicago; a bachelor’s degree in public affairs from Indiana University; and accreditation in non-profit management, project management, grant administration and leadership.
Funding for the program is provided through a Strategic Prevention Framework Incentive Grant, which the county received from the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) through the state’s Department of Health, Alcohol Drug Abuse Division.
To register for the event or to request additional support or an auxiliary aid to attend the workshop, contact the Anti-Drug office at 241-4925 or tkoki@kauai.gov.
