Ho‘ouila picked up an easy win as Team Central 2 forfeited its match for not having enough players to start the game, Saturday at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
That must’ve been good news for coach Jeff Venzon, sitting in for coach Peter Rayno who was occupied with the home game for the Hanama‘ulu Hillsiders senior softball team.
Saturday was the make up for a game rained out earlier in the season.
Lanakila Wilson buzzed for a game-high 22 points and Tyler Fernandez added 20 points to lead Team Central 1 to a 73-21 showing over Team Lihu‘e, who got 19 points from its shake-and-bake guard Kelvin Ganotisi.
Kaone Miguel added nine points for the Team Central 1 and following Ganotisi, Branden Remigio added a pair.
Reymund Mendoza had 19 points and Briggs Agu added 13 points to lead Westside Basketball to a 42-28 win over the West Kaua‘i Hornets in the finale.
Jamin Fernandez popped in seven marks for Westside following the leaders.
Kamea Palama-Alquiza led the Hornets with 13 points, followed by Kicah Acoba adding eight points and Noah Arruda finishing with three.
Just three more games are on tap for the Boys 13 and Under Winter League.
Teams take the floor on Thursday starting with the West Kaua‘i Hornets meeting Papalina-Blue starting at 6 p.m. at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center.
Westside Basketball follows with a matchup against Team Central 2 starting at 7 p.m. Hanakila closes out the night against Team Central 1 starting at 8 p.m.
The boys play four games on Saturday and close out the league Monday with three games, all at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
