Nancy Pearson, the American Automobile Association Regional Director, recently presented the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort and Spa a pair of Four Diamond awards.
The presentation marks the 20th AAA Four Diamond award since the opening of the Po‘ipu resort and recognizes high levels of hospitality, attentiveness to detail, upscale design in lodging, restaurants and amenities, said Diann Hartmann, the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i’s public relations manager.
Dondero’s restaurant, one of the eateries located in the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i, also received a AAA Four Diamond award for its accomplished staff, menu creativity and complexity, presentation and fresh ingredients, Hartman said.
This is Dondero’s third AAA Four Diamond award, after being honored in 2008 and 2010.
Joining the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i, the St. Regis Princeville Resort is the only other Kaua‘i resort to earn the designation, states an article in the Pacific Business News.
Dondero’s is the only Kaua‘i restaurant to earn the Four Diamond rating after having met the AAA criteria and levels of excellence during an unannounced visit.
The AAA website states AAA/CAA Four Diamond Award winners are a select group with just 3.5 percent of the 58,000 AAA/CAA Diamond Rated lodgings and restaurants receiving the designation.
California has the most Four Diamond lodgings with 155, and Florida has the most Four Diamond restaurants with 65, just one more than California at 64.
Hawai‘i has 26 AAA Four Diamond ratings for 2011: 10 restaurants and 16 hotels.
