John Wallace Word of Kailua, O‘ahu, died Feb. 15, 2011 at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 54. Born on Dec. 14, 1956, in O‘ahu, he proudly served his country for 20 years as a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his father; William E. Word.
He is survived by his wife Jonelle; daughter Ericka (Rene); sons Jason (Roseanna) and James; mother Thalia B. Word; brothers Kenneth and Ross (Suzi); sisters Leslie and Sydney (Gary), four grandchildren, numerous uncles, aunties, nephews, nieces and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011 at Lucy Wright Park in Waimea with visitation at 4 p.m. and service at 5:30 p.m. Military honors and scattering of ashes will be held on O‘ahu at a later date.
Family requests casual attire.

Julian Constantino
Julian “Papa” Vergara Constantino, age 91 of Kilauea, passed away Saturday Feb. 12, 2011 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, Kaua‘i. He was born on July 14, 1919 at San Manuel Pangasinan, Philippines.
He retired from the Olokele Sugar Plantation in 1985.
Julian was preceded in death by his parents Feliciano and Bernarda Constantino; brothers Benny, Martin and Marcelino Constantino; sister Placida Constantino.
He is survived by his wife Christina Constantino; daughters Sharon (Pat) McMillin, Leona (Tom) Blankley, Julie (Pierre) Pavao, Kay Marie (Jeff) Berry, Jodie Carlsen, Chaz Julian (Stephanie) Constantino; son Roy (Lisa Donnan) Constantino; hanai children Leslie (Eva Joy) Peru, Eileen (Joey) Donohue and Talitha (Andrew) Byram; grandchildren Garrett (Cheryl) Hiranaka, Shyla (Clifford) Uyesato, Reeve Kihei, Reyne (Danny) Works, Tiffany (Bill) Woodard, David and Jason Rohner, Royce and Julian Kaimana Constantino, Pierre Makana (Alethia) Pavao, Kalili Pavao, Krystina, Tommy, Alex, Kelli Malia and Kaylin Berry, Katrina Carlsen; hanai grandchildren Sean Makai Donohue, Christopher, Malia and Nicholas Byram, Raychael Flores; great-grandchildren Aniah Nahalia, Waileia, Uluwehi, Eden Nohea, Ezri Makoa, Elliora Kawena Pavao, Echo Sol Blankley Rohner, Rylee and Lexee Works, Sophia Kihei, Kaycee and Harlan Hiranaka, numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011 at Saint Sylvesters Catholic Church, Kilauea. Visitation at 8:30 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial at St. Catherine’s Cemetery.
Family suggests casual attire.

Emma Gonsalves
Emma E. Gonsalves, age 93 of Honolulu, died on Jan. 30, 2011 at the St. Francis Hospice — West. Mrs. Gonsalves was born Dec. 12, 1917 in Kualapu’u, Moloka’i. Mrs. Gonsalves was a retired Housekeeping Supervisor from the Ilikai Hotel.
She is survived by sons Gerald P. Gonsalves of Anahola and Joel K. Gonsalves; daughters Geraldine K. Donahue and Abeleen “Abe” L. Lau; 13 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcomed on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the Diamond Head Mortuary Chapel. A Funeral Service will begin at 10:15 a.m. Graveside Services will be held at 12:45 p.m. at the Diamond Head Memorial Park.
The family requests that casual attire be worn for the services.

Patrick Alvarez
Patrick “Flea” Alvarez of Kekaha, Kaua‘i, died Jan. 23, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at age 65. Born on Oct. 20, 1945, in Waimea, Kaua‘i, he was a program manager for Test and Evaluation with the Pacific Missile Range Facility.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Alvarez; and brother, Jose Alvarez Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Julie A. Alvarez; sons, Adrian P. Alvarez of Kekaha and Ryan W. Alvarez of Fallon, Nev.; mother, Josephine Alvarez of Kekaha; brothers, Gilbert Alvarez (Margie) of Las Vegas, Nev., Jody Alvarez (Rachel) of Kekaha, Tommy Alvarez of Kekaha, Brandan Alvarez of Utah and Vincent Alvarez of ‘Ele‘ele; sisters, Mary Alvarez-Manuel (Larry) of Kekaha and Cordell Blair of Colorado; sister-in-law, Marsha Alvarez of Mililani; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Kaua‘i Veterans Cemetery Pavilion. A celebration of life will begin at noon with burial to follow. Family request casual attire.

Alexander Youn passed away on Feb. 5, 2011 at his home in Kapa‘a at age 97. He was born on Jan. 2, 1914 in Koloa, Kaua‘i.
He was a retired supervisor for Hawaiian Fruit Packers.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vivian Youn; parents Youn Dai Won and Beatice Gomez Youn; brothers Frank and John Youn; sister Beatrice Naone.
He is survived by his sons Alex, Gilmore, Avery and James Youn; daughters Lolita (Ray) Gefroh, Alexis (Royden) Niiyama, Avis (Jonathan) Tom, Healani (Kelii) Youn; brother Antone Youn; sisters Mary Ker, Dolores Keliikipi, Therese (Leslie) Almeida; 19 grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Helena Marie Nalani Oyamot, 49, died Feb. 8, 2011, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital. Born in Honolulu on Dec. 3, 1961, she was a co-owner of MandH Service in Waimea and a logistics specialist at Manu Kai.
She was preceeded in death by her mother, Conchita DeCosta; and father-in-law, Severino Oyamot.
She is survived by her husband, Malcolm Oyamot; daughters, Jerene Nicole (Wesley Manuel) Oyamot and Brandee Lynn (Lane “Kunane”) Turalde; grandchildren, Anuhea, Nainoa, Kawena, Alohi, Kala, and Mahina; father, Stanywick (Marie) Yadao; stepfather, Francis “Cucu” DeCosta; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Oyamot; sisters, Tammy (Teddy) Perreira, Stanette (Melvin “Bones”) Kua, Kimberly (Errol Jr. ”Keala”) Lanning; sisters-in-law, Rowena (Calvin) Fukushima, Wenda (Charles Moon) Oyamot; brothers-in-law, Rodney (Josie Rasay) Oyamot, Mansfield (Noreen) Oyamot, Jonathan (Mars) Oyamot; step-brothers, Francis “Braddah” (Lillian) DeCosta and Kevin Marugame; step-sisters, Katie DeCosta, Manette DeCosta and Lori Marugame; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
