Elizabeth Freeman still has a recycled water bottle ornament on her hat. She’s been working on the interior design upgrades for Keoki’s (25th anniversary coming Feb. 4) and Duke’s and was discussing some of the projects with Jaime Arreola of Duke’s and Ross Anderson of Kane‘ohe over lunch at Merriman’s Kaua‘i, Thursday.
Kudos to Chef Kevin Ives and the team from Merriman’s for their efforts at trying to help the people in Haiti! Mei Ling Keopuhiwa is back from New Zealand and is part of the Merriman’s team until the fall semester, when she’s planning on attending Kaua‘i Community College.
Mahalo goes to Malia Cataluna for setting everything up, and Chef Kevin said the idea to help Haiti came up because Emily and Hannah Pierce, daughters of Dr. Ken and Diane Pierce were both part of the Merriman’s Kaua‘i team and Emily is in Haiti with her mom helping at an orphanage.
OK, this is it…time to get out to Kilohana for the YMCA Keiki Fun Run. While doing research on the event, ran into a 2004 coverage piece where Kaua‘i long distance runner Cinzia Bruno was participating in the event.
We’ll see Cinzia at the KIF swim meet, today.
