Kaua‘i takes first round title with win over Island School

The Kaua‘i High School Red Raiders clinched the first round title of the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation boys basketball league with a 45-19 win over the Island School Voyagers, Monday at Island School.

Kaua‘i, finishing 4-1 following its 42-32 win over Waimea, Saturday, was forced into this game which was previously rained-out last Wednesday when Kapa‘a High School took a 63-41 win over Island School, Saturday.

This gives the Warriors a 4-2 first round record, and pushed Kaua‘i to play the rained-out game.

With the win, Kaua‘i takes the first round title on a 5-1 record.

The second round of KIF boys basketball starts Wednesday when Kapa‘a travels to the Kaua‘i High School gym. Junior Varsity action tips off at 5:30 p.m. followed by the varsity game approximately 20 minutes following the completion of the JV game.

Full game story will appear in the Wednesday issue of The Garden Island.
